Are you voting republican?

I'm registered to vote...and I vote every damn chance I get...I voted last month...if you live in California I betcha didn't even know there was an election type thingie? Did you vote to keep rent control?
Register....vote....don't be a dick.

Dear DSB...

Dear DSB,
I just want to tell you that I love you dearly. I'm happy your team won today and is going on to the final game of the Euro Championships.
You are very dear to me and I cherish you deeply...however,
If you eat the half order of Sweet Sticky Rice and Mango in the fridge, consider it a deal breaker. Seriously....get your own.
Smooches.

It's So Hot.....

HOW HOT IS IT?
It's so hot that it was 108 today at the casa de Scrapper.
It's so hot that I've developed heat rash under my Bazoombas and it itches.
It's so hot that I got my nails done (for like the first time in forever) and they were dry in like 30 seconds.
It's so Hot the cactus in the yard is dying.
It's so hot that Nick got fed up with the heat and....long story short I just finished shaving his head in my kitchen....it's that freaking hot.
When ever I stand up I'm horrified to discover that the back of my pants are damp from my legs sweating, and the power was out on Lankershim creating this kinda Mad Max Road Warrior kind of vibe.

It's hot hot hot.
When I got into my car today I sat down and let out a scream of pain since I now have 2nd degree burns from the black vinyl seat.
Damn you valley heat.

It's Fabuloso!

Ok....while the DSB was at the SFV Soccer Club watching the Germany vs. Portugal game I decided to do something a bit on the good house wench side.
Since I knew there was probably a 50/50 chance that Germany would lose the game, thus putting the DSB in a totally crabby sports guy funk I figured I'd do something nice and take the opportunity to clean (since he didn't think to do that when I was away working yesterday, ahem) so I cleaned the kitchen, the bazillion glasses that him and his buddies used last night, vaccumed and I mopped the bathroom/kitchen floors.
I just wanted to give a shout out to my favorite cleaning product EVER!
FABULOSO
My friend in college loved this stuff because in Georgia you could only get it in the Lavender scent and it's bright purple and she dug purple....I love the purple Fabuloso, the smell just screams CLEAN HOUSE!

I need ideas mommies! Lots of ideas!

Ok so here's the scoop....
My friend E is pregnant. She's due in early December. Her Hubs was over on Sunday and he mentioned that he was worried that nobody would throw her a baby shower....can you see where this is going?
I LOVE BABY SHOWERS! I'm a totall one upper when it comes to these things. I also love babies and I love E and her Hubs, so I totally stepped up and begged to be allowed to throw the baby shower.
So here's the deal.
I don't know how to go about throwing a baby shower.
I know it should be when she's about 7ish months along, and I know there should be food. I don't think she's the dorky party game type and it's going to be in October or November but since I live in LA it's not going to be THAT cold.
So any of you mommies out there wanna help a sistah out...did you have a kick ass baby shower? If not is there something you wish went on at your baby shower?
I need Ideas! I totally want to throw a super sweet baby shower for my friend! HELP!

Let's review, shall we?

Photobucket
Went to the L.A Roadster show in Pamona this weekend and for some reason this is the only photo I took....6am and we realized that the valve covers weren't on tight enough....and that my exhaust manifold leaks like crazy. How did we find out...when the cab of the truck filled with oily smoke, awesome! Lucky for us there was a guy at the gas station across the street from the 7-11 we stopped at that had a ratchet set in his car we could use because, of course we're retards and managed to put everything BUT the tool box in the back of the truck.
Good times though. Hung out with the Shifters mostly and walked my butt off....great swap meet but didn't find what I was looking for.
Anyways.....
this afternoon I got a hankering for pizza. I decided that instead of ordering form our local joint, (which is damn yummy by the way) I was going to make pizza at home...start to finish, even the sauce.
Photobucket
Mmmmmmmm saucy goodness
Photobucket
DOUGH! I totally love my kitchenaid mixer. The dough hook rocked this dough. Next time I'm going to punch it down and let it rise again so I can have a chewy crust.
Photobucket
I made two types of pizza, this is the pepperoni for the guys
Photobucket
just to give you an idea how much fat was in that pepperoni...I had to blot it when I took it out of the oven but holy cow it was goooooood.
Photobucket
Then I made a little kalamata olive and prosciutto for me....Honestly it was sooo good but next time I'm adding some carmalized onion to the mix.
The DSB and Nick are happy freaking campers this evening.

Hair did!

new hair do
I got my hair did today FINALLY after like 4 months.
My hairdresser Amber is moving to Seattle so I had to find a new girl....I hit the Mother F'n jack pot. Her name is Connie and she works at a salon right down the street plus she also used to work at Frenchys (where I used to get my stuff done) so she can do the whole retro up-do thing which I will be getting done next weekend. And her rates are awesome and she's in an 80's cover band.
HOORAY FOR ME!

The Worst Day Since Yesterday.

The DSB is having the WORST DAY EVER!
Lets start from the very begining, a very good place to start.

8:00 am : I leave for the gym. The DSB is up but taking his time as he was going into work late because he was going to watch the Germany vs. Croatia Euro Championship match over at his parents house, because they're Germans and they get all hot and bothered over some soccer action. Plus it's a tradition that he watch the Germany games in tournaments such as these (like the World Cup) over with the Folks.

8:20 am : The DSB (probably wearing his Germany jersey) goes outside to find a parking officer writing him a ticket as it is Thursday and after 8am our side of the street becomes a no parking zone due to street sweeping. He takes it in stride and goes inside to pay the $50 ticket and drops it off at the mail box on his way to his parents house.
Poor DSB

10:00 am (ish) : Germany loses to Croatia 2-1. I can only speculate that he took the opportunity to swear in German.
Poor DSB

10:30 am : He goes to work and realizes he has left his wallet at home. He leaves work and drives all the way home in the shop van to come home a retrieve it.

11:00 : He leaves to go back to work only to come back about 5 min later. He throws open the door and yells "You've got to be KIDDING ME!"
The shop van has a flat tire.
Poor DSB

11:30 : The DSB finishes changing the tire and goes to put the good jack back in the garage. I'm about to leave when I notice I have to be the bearer of more bad news.

Me: Hey baby?
DSB: Yeah?
Me: The rear tire is also almost flat.
DSB: (Big Sigh).....Of course it would be. Of course.

POOR DSB.
I'm gonna get him a six pack of beer and some cookies cause he deserves it.

You'd think I swung the other way

You know...for a straight chick I just realized that I am very passionate about gay/lesbian rights and visibility. People say, "Oh you must have alot of gay/lesbian friends." and when i think about it I realize that I really don't. I mean I have a few...I never really sat down and counted. I don't think you have to know someone to get involved in a cause or whatever. I just think it's great that how far the Gay/Lesbian community has come since the days of homosexuality being classified as a mental defect. Every step they take towards equality is a step we all take towards making the world a more tolerant and understanding place. Call me the Straight Against Hate.

Anyways when a good friend of mine put the call out needing volunteers for the 15th Annual Dyke March how could I say no. This person has always been a good friend to me and, well quite frankly she's been helping me out with something that is very important to me so what kind of butt head would I be if I declined an opportunity to help with something that's important to her? So if you see me on the news in my PBR bandanna remember....Gay, Straight, Young, Old, Black, White or whatever, we're all in the same boat and life's too short to be a hater.
Do I sound seriously preachy?
